Learn how to replace the protective cover for your Microplane Ultimate Citrus Tool 2.0. This guide covers sizing, fit, and care tips for the cover-only accessory.
Quick answer
Replace your Microplane Ultimate Citrus Tool 2.0 cover when it becomes loose, cracked, or lost to protect the tool’s sharp blades and extend its life.
Why replacement matters
The protective cover is not a decorative accessory — it shields the tool's edge from dulling and prevents accidental cuts during storage. Replacing a worn or missing cover is a cheap preventive step that keeps your citrus tool in top condition.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does this cover fit any other Microplane tools?
- No, the Ultimate Citrus Tool 2.0 Protective Cover Only (product ID 1985525) is designed exclusively for the Ultimate Citrus Tool 2.0. It will not fit earlier versions or other Microplane graters. Verify your tool model before ordering — the cover is not universal.
- How do I know when the cover needs replacing?
- Replace the cover when it no longer snaps firmly onto the tool, shows cracks or holes, or if the blade can dislodge it during handling. A loose cover defeats its safety purpose. Check the fit regularly; a cover that stays put during storage is a sign it still works.
- Can I wash the cover?
- Yes, wash the cover by hand in warm soapy water and dry it thoroughly before reattaching. Avoid the dishwasher, as high heat may warp the plastic and loosen the fit over time. Hand-washing extends the cover’s useful life — machine washing can deform it.
