The plastic is sturdy and fits the ultra coarse grater like a glove, so it snaps on without any wobble. Only 2 ounces, but it feels solid enough to survive a drawer full of other kitchen tools.

Finally, a cover that actually stays put on my coarse grater without popping off when I grab it from the drawer. The plastic feels sturdy enough to last through daily use, and it keeps the sharp edges safely covered.

Wasn't sure a plastic lid was worth buying separately, but it snaps on tight and keeps the shredded cheese from drying out in the fridge. Cheap fix for a grater I already loved.
